Embedded C developer - Auckland

ME or PHD (Software or E&EE)

Experience with embedded C development is a requirement

FlexWare has several large contract jobs. Clients are demanding faster progress and this opens up an opportunity to take on more resource.

The position is to cover the embedded and control systems workload of staff members working on a new project. There is a variety of projects to work on depending on skills and experience. The developments are frequently on established platforms for large clients who market their leading edge products internationally, however, innovation and improved efficiency are always sought.

    Work Requirements

    Our initial requirement is for an embedded developer with embedded C programming skills

  • Experience at managing embedded C developments
  • Ability to learn new software languages and technologies
  • Asking for assistance as required to complete work in a timely manner
  • Good project management skills, aptitude and efficient work manner
  • Knowledge of embedded hardware development would be an advantage
  • Experience with wireless communication would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with higher-level software is also advantageous

Qualifications & Experience

A Masters degree (or higher) in Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering is required.

To qualify for this role you must be located in Auckland, New Zealand and authorized to work here.

Ideally some practical work experience is desired.

    To be eligible for an R&D Career Grant internship, students must:

  • Be about to complete, or have recently completed, a masters or PhD degree in science, technology, engineering, design or business ie have submitted a thesis for marking (or completed course requirement for taught masters) less than 12 months ago
  • Have undertaken the study at a New Zealand tertiary institution if you are not a New Zealand citizen
  • Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand
  • Not have been employed in the industry under a professional arrangement related to your area of study except temporary, part-time or at a tertiary organisation
  • Knowledge of embedded hardware development would be an advantage
  • Not have been previously employed at the business – unless this was short-term employment (eg over the summer break).

FlexWare Summer Internship Programme

The application for summer student intern is now open. Applications will remain open until 1st August 2019 with interviews for potential candidates in the mid-semester break.

Applications should be in by 1st August 2019.

We are looking for a Software or Electronics student with experience in programming and project development to take on over the summer from December until February.

To be valid for a Callaghan Innovation project students must be in their third year or higher of tertiary education.

If the student we take on is not suitable for these projects the student will have the opportunity to work on our other projects which range from app developments and websites to embedded system development.

    Skills Required:

  • Previous software development experience
  • A passion for technology
  • Experience with either Java or C#
  • Knowledge of C and lower level programming

We are looking for students completing an Engineering or Science Degree in software or electronics. Previous experience is a big plus but not required.
